There are so many things you can do with an extra hour -- eat, finish that novel in your drawer, go for a run, or even sleep in. However, almost 15,000 people were injured or killed in fires in the United States in 2013, according to the National Fire Protection Association. The American Red Cross is one year into our five year Home Fire Campaign, checking and installing smoke alarms, and in one year, we have distributed over 10,000 smoke alarms. With Daylight Savings coming up, it's time to check your batteries and your unit. If you need new alarms or batteries, call Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767. Save an hour, save your life. Sleeping in is pretty over-rated.
